Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy
Opening New Pathways to Healing
With over 10 years of experience providing Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), Dr. Kohl helps clients combine the therapeutic effects ketamine with the support and guidance of psychotherapy. KAP can create opportunities to explore emotions, patterns, and experiences from a different perspective, supporting deeper insight, emotional processing, and meaningful change.

What is KAP?
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) integrates medically supervised ketamine treatment with psychotherapy before, during, and/or between ketamine sessions. Dr. Kohl has worked with KAP for over 10 years, helping clients prepare for the experience, process what emerges, and integrate insights into ongoing therapeutic work. Ketamine affects the brain’s glutamate system and has been associated with increased neural connectivity and neuroplasticity, which may create conditions that support new ways of thinking, feeling, and responding.
Ketamine sessions are provided through Invictus Clinic and involve a 45-minute infusion. Therapy can be incorporated in several ways depending on the client’s individual needs and preferences. Clients may meet with Dr. Kohl for an hour before the infusion to prepare and establish therapeutic intentions, receive therapeutic support during the infusion, meet for an hour after the infusion to begin processing the experience, or schedule psychotherapy sessions on the days between infusions to further explore and integrate thoughts, emotions, memories, and insights that may have emerged.
The goal of KAP is not simply the ketamine experience itself, but what the client is able to understand, process, and carry forward from it. Dr. Kohl's role throughout the process is to provide a safe and supportive therapeutic space, assist with preparation and emotional processing, and help translate emerging insights into meaningful therapeutic work. The overall goal is to support the client throughout the entire process and create opportunities for a deeper level of healing and lasting psychological change.
